The use of CoreCommunity online health challenge software is increasing. In the past two months, more cities are turning to Corehealth to provide interactive software to help the inactive become more active.

Recently the City of Surrey, District of Squamish and Fort St John all added the fun and interactive tracking tool to their recreation program system.

The walking and Physical Activity challenge has the ability to help promote recreation walking trails, local facilities, and programs to help people learn about what is available to them. Often people don’t realize what is literally in their own back yard to help them exercise and feel the benefits of health. The prizing feature in Core Community is the best way to give away free family swim passes, skate passes, weight room access and program registration to introduce new opportunities to people once they start being active.

The local programs will be supported by a social marketing campaign through the recreation centers and local media. Local promotions highlight the need to be active the equivalent of 10,000 steps or 20 minutes of vigorous exercise a day to reduce the risk of obesity, heart disease and hypertension that is affecting many inactive people.

Designed to host seasonal walking and physical activity challenges for all ages, organizers hope to set up community challenges, corporate team challenges and school challenges. Events will include fun prizing for the winning teams and random prizes to recreation facilities throughout each seasonal event. Individuals can also join the program to work on their health and fitness on their own time and pace.
